Interested in a Good Drop? Take a wine appreciation course here in wine paradise
For lovers of wine the name Barolo will be familiar as it is the most prestigious wine produced in Italy and well known throughout the world as the “Wine of Kings and the King of wines”. But Barolo is just one of the amazing and world famous wines produced in this area. We will visit cantinas in various wine making zones of Barbaresco, Roero, Dogliani and of course Barolo. This area is overflowing with amazing wines of world class reknown. The most wonderful thing is that most wine is still produced by small family run cantinas which now combine ancient methods with the best of the modern wine making knowledge. This often makes them hard to find but don’t worry we’ve hand picked the producers that offer you a quintessential taste of the great wine and culture of this region. Dolcetto in Dogliani, Barolo in Barolo, Barbaresco in Barbaresco, Arneis in the Roero.
Italian wine a bit confusing? What is a DOCG? How do I read the label? What makes these wines so special? Why not take a wine appreciation course, understand the important varieties and how they are produced and then we will visit the cantinas to undertake the practical! Spend some time with the local producers and wine makers who will explain and demonstrate all the important aspects that go into making the “wine of kings and the king of wines”
Not only tasting but discovering wine!
The Langhe and the Roero region are both famous for producing exceptional wines. We visit a range of passionate but small producers like Matteo Corregia and Renato and Milva Fenocchio to not only taste wine but to discover all the important aspects that go into making this wine world famous. The importance of the soil, the weather.. more simply simply the “terrior” in determining the end result. We get involved with every part of the wine making process from visits to the vines to learn the when to pick the grapes, a decision made by tasting the tannins in the seeds and the skins and looking at the colour of the flesh. Once picked we get down and dirty and involved in the crushing and processing of the grapes that will become “the wine of king and the king of wines”. Oh yes and of course it’s all topped off with a great wine tasting made even better by the fact that we understand the hard work that has gone in to making this exceptional wine!
